"Fanfare" is TWICE's 6th Japanese maxi single, released July 8, 2020 via Warner Music Japan โ€” and their first Japanese CD release of 2020. It comes in four versions: Standard Edition (CD), Limited Edition A (CD + DVD featuring the MV and MV making film), Limited Edition B (CD + DVD featuring the jacket shoot making film), and a ONCE JAPAN fanclub edition. The single carries 4 tracks: "Fanfare," "More & More (Japanese ver.)," a Lee Hae Sol remix of "Fanfare," and an instrumental โ€” making it the first physical home for the Japanese version of "More & More." The MV was released digitally on June 19, 2020, with the CD following on July 8. The single was widely reported to have originally been conceived to coincide with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics before the Games were postponed due to the pandemic. Commercially it was a strong performer: it debuted at #1 on the weekly Oricon Singles Chart with 176,725 copies sold, topped the Billboard Japan Hot 100, and earned RIAJ Platinum certification โ€” TWICE's 10th overall RIAJ Platinum at the time. It also served as the lead single for their forthcoming third Japanese studio album Perfect World. The first live performance was on NHK's Shibuya Note on July 4, 2020.
